Vegetation Analysis in Mixed Oak Forest of Kakani Area of Shivapuri National Park, Central Nepal

Kakani is located in western part of Shivapuri National Park. The vegetation analysis was carried out in Oak forest of Kakani which lies in Nuwakot district. The present study was made during 2008 in the month of August-September. The sample plots ranged from 2100 m to 2400 m a.s.l. A total of 30 quadrats (10 m X 10 m ) were laid down at each 50 m elevation. Altogether 612 tree individuals belonging to 22 species, 17 genera and 13 families were recorded from a total 0.3 ha area.

Regional floristic studies are very important. It can be acheived by intensive exploration of smaller areas.This gives an account of vegetational diversity
of plant species. The location of Shrigonda taluka is 180. 27’ North to 180 . 54’ North latitude and 740. 23’ East to 740. 56’ East longitude with an elevation of about 630 meters above the mean sea level. It has occupied an area of 1599 square Km. and included 235 villages.
